I've made coverart for Trance Mix 6 but I haven't recorded it yet. Who knows, I might get round to it.
In the meantime, here's Trance mix 5, kicking off with Plank 15's interpretation of Rhythm Is Rhythm classic "Strings Of Life". If you've never heard it, the piano from the original is replaced with a guitar. And it works!

Or "Trance Mix #2" if you count my Platipus mix. Which I don't (cos I can't be bothered renaming the source mp3s and the artworks already done). Maybe I should have saved my Platipus mix til the end.
Anyway, first of 5 trance mixes for you, no "all-by-the-same-artist" or "just-one-label" nonsense, just quality trance tracks. This mix features some newer tracks and some newer remixes of tracks from the late 90s and early 00s.
The majority of my trance stuff is late 90s/early 00s but the odd new track creeps in ocassionaly and some really are old school (especially so in Mix #2).

Taking a bit of a break from old school now, though some of these tracks would certainly qualify due to their age.
At the start of the month I said I would upload some of my trance mixes and, better late than never, here they are.
First up is my mix of my favourites tunes from one of my favourite trance labels: Platipus. Platipus have released a few "Best of" mixes (http://www.discogs.com/release/50019 and http://www.discogs.com/release/70729) but they always missed out on some of my favs so I decided to make my own.

Dunfyboy's Leftfield Mix

Another "old-school-to-modern-day" artist mix. Leftfield probably don't spring to mind when talking about old school, but "Not Forgotten" was 1st released in 1990, so that qualifies them (in my mind at least). They're probably as unjustified to be called modern day as "Rhythm & Stealth" was realeased 9 years ago. Doesn't time fly?
My first Leftfield mix was the first I recorded as an MP3. It only featured 8 tracks and ran to about half an hour so I've redone it with more tracks and it now comes in at just over the hour mark. BPMs range from the low 70s to the mid 140s so it was a bit of a challange.

Dunfyboy's Old School Rave Mix

When I realised I'd used the Bladerunner font on the cover of my last mix I decided to use Roy Batty's speach from the end of Bladerunner as the intro to this mix.
I used to mix it into N-Trance's "Set You Free" as it also had rain in the background, but I think it works well with the opening chords of "Hardcore Uproar" too.
Although i've listed this mix as "rave", half the tracks are more what I'd call old school house. I was messing about with a rave mix, a house mix and an Italian house mix but gave up and stuck them all into one mix. Wasn't it better when you could mix anything with anything else anyway?

Been a while since I last uploaded a mix, but this one's been a bitch.
My original plan was to do 3 mixes using the 18 Reactivate albums.
First mix using volumes 1-6 went OK, but when I came to the second mix (using volumes 7-12) there just weren't enough tracks I liked or wanted to use in the mix. I had a listen to volumes 13-18 and decided it would sound too much like one of my trance mixes (which I'll upload in the next week or so).
So, after much swearing, I re-jigged my 1st mix to include tracks from volumes 1-10, totally ignoring the later albums.

I've been listening to dance music for ever (at least, it feels like it) and mixing for the past 15 years. It was hearing Eon's "Spice" that really hooked me, followed by other classics like Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash" and Orbital's "Chime". After that, I fell in love with the breakbeat-driven rave tunes like The Prodigy's "Your Love" and Urban Shakedown's "Some Justice". This lead onto early English happy hardcore and the harder sounds coming out of Scotland & Holland.
In the second half of the 90s, happy hardcore got cheesier and all hardcore seemed to be turning into gabba. The countless remixes meant there wasn't really anything new for me and I pretty much gave up on hardcore in 97/98, turning to trance instead. Luckily, I'd gotten into big beat two or three years before that so, plenty of breakbeats there to keep me happy. This lead onto nu-school breaks and the dirty, heavier sound of electro house has got me back into house.
So far, my mixes have been download in the UK, Ireland, Finland, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Serbia, Greece, Morocco, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Brasil, Argentina, Canada, the US and Mexico. It's kinda weird to think of all the little zeroes and ones from my computer spreading all over the world and (hopefully) making a few people smile along the way. If your country's missing from the list, let me know.
After a little Googling, I see my podcast has been mentioned on a few sites and forums, no thanks to me. Thanks to all who have spread the word.
